Many users find it important to install apps outside of the Google Play Store – for example, via F-Droid or the Aurora Store. We understand this concern very well, but we cannot officially support NUNAV through these channels. Here are the reasons:
F-Droid
F-Droid only allows the inclusion of open-source apps whose source code is publicly accessible. Additionally, the apps are compiled by F-Droid itself – this increases security but requires full disclosure.
NUNAV is not an open-source project. The app is based on proprietary source code, which forms the basis of our products. Disclosure would not be possible from a business perspective – it would also pose potential risks to the security and integrity of the app.
Therefore, inclusion in the F-Droid catalog is not possible.
Aurora Store
The Aurora Store provides an alternative interface for the Google Play Store. The apps are sourced from there, but without official Google services (e.g., Play Protect, license verification, automatic updates).
When using Aurora, we cannot guarantee that:
the app functions completely (e.g., with in-app communication or updates),
no compatibility issues occur,
the app always remains secure and up-to-date.
What about Amazon Appstore, Huawei AppGallery, or APKMirror?
In addition to the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, there are other platforms through which Android apps can be obtained. Some of these include:
Amazon Appstore – for Fire Tablets and Android devices without Play Store
Huawei AppGallery – on newer Huawei devices without Google services
Samsung Galaxy Store – pre-installed on Samsung devices
APKMirror / APKPure – platforms for manually downloading APK files
These alternatives do offer some Google-independent usage, but releasing our app through such channels presents significant challenges – such as:
Separate release and update process
Technically necessary adjustments to proprietary APIs
No automatic support for Play Services (e.g., with push notifications or location access)
Higher maintenance effort for support, QA, and release management
👉 Therefore, we currently provide NUNAV exclusively through Google Play and Apple App Store. This ensures security, stability, and a consistent user experience.
