iOS - Manage Permissions

To ensure NUNAV Navigation can reliably provide all functions, the app requires various permissions from your iPhone depending on the function.

How to open permissions:
Settings → NUNAV

Location

Location is the most important permission for NUNAV Navigation. Only with location enabled can your current position be determined and navigation be conducted.

For the best possible navigation, we recommend setting location access to Always and enabling Precise Location.

Contacts

Allows NUNAV to access your contacts.

If a contact contains an address, it can be directly adopted as a navigation destination.

Camera

The camera is needed if you want to use QR codes or other camera-based functions within NUNAV.

If you do not use these functions, you can disable the permission at any time.

Photos

This permission is needed if you want to select images from your photo library and, for example, send them to support.

Calendar

This permission allows NUNAV to use appointments from your Apple Calendar as navigation destinations.

If an appointment contains a location or address, it can be directly adopted for navigation.

Siri

Allows the use of Siri in connection with NUNAV, provided the corresponding Siri functions are supported.

Search

Allows NUNAV content to be found via iOS search.

Background App Refresh

Allows NUNAV to update certain content in the background.

For reliable navigation, we recommend keeping this setting enabled.

Cellular Data

Allows NUNAV to use the mobile data connection.

Since route calculation, traffic information, and current map data require an internet connection, this permission should remain enabled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I disable individual permissions?

Yes. You can change any permission at any time in the iOS settings.

Please note that the associated function may then no longer be available or only available to a limited extent.

Why does NUNAV need access to my calendar?

So that appointments with a stored address can be directly adopted as navigation destinations.

Why does NUNAV need access to my contacts?

So that you can directly select saved contact addresses as a destination without having to enter the address manually.

Why should background app refresh be enabled?

This allows NUNAV to provide certain functions more reliably. However, for actual navigation, location access is particularly crucial.
