How can I enter my destination in NUNAV?

With NUNAV, you have various options to enter your destination.
The following options are available to you:

• Enter Address
• Set Destination on the Map
• Enter Destination Using Coordinates
• Event, Concert, or Fair

Below, we explain how to use the different input options.

Enter Address (Android & iOS)

Do you have a specific address you want to reach?

Enter the address in the search field. Use the arrow next to the suggestion to utilize autocomplete.

Tip: It is advisable to use the American format. This means: enter the house number first, then the street name. This way, you can directly select the appropriate suggestion, and the house number does not need to be added later. This input method may feel unusual at first, but it significantly simplifies the search. Give it a try!

Set a Destination on the Map (Android & iOS)

Are you not looking for a specific address but want to navigate to any point on the map? This is also possible with NUNAV.

Any Point on the Map:
Press and hold your finger on the desired point for about 2 seconds. A destination will then be set there, and you can start navigation.

POIs, Parking Spaces, or Symbols on the Map:
If there is an existing map element (e.g., parking lot, attraction, building, or symbol) at that location, a simple tap is sufficient. In this case, the route will be calculated immediately without needing to hold the point.

Enter Destination Using Coordinates (currently only Android)

In NUNAV, destinations can also be entered directly via coordinates. Please note: NUNAV only supports the Decimal Degree Format (DD).

Example of valid inputs (DD):

52.412889, 9.632583

Other formats such as Degrees-Minutes-Seconds (DMS) – e.g.:
52°24'46.4"N 9°37'57.3"E
cannot be processed by the app.

If coordinates are in DMS format, they must be converted to decimal degrees (DD) before input.

How can I convert coordinates from DMS to DD?

Example DMS coordinates:

52°24'46.4"N 9°37'57.3"E

The conversion is done using the formula:

DD = Degrees + (Minutes / 60) + (Seconds / 3600)

Example Calculation:

Latitude:
52°24'46.4"N
→ 52 + 24/60 + 46.4/3600
→ 52.412889

Longitude:
9°37'57.3"E
→ 9 + 37/60 + 57.3/3600
→ 9.632583

Result in Decimal Degrees (DD):
52.412889, 9.632583

Depending on rounding, slight deviations may occur.

Event, Concert, or Fair (Android & iOS)

NUNAV assists you in getting to fairs, concerts, sporting events, and cultural major events. The app helps you avoid traffic jams and leads you directly to an available parking space near the event location.

How to get to the event:

1. Open the NUNAV app and enter the name of the event in the search field.
2. Select "Navigate." Depending on the event, different roles are available, e.g., visitor, VIP, service provider, or Park&Ride.
3. Select your role. NUNAV will then automatically direct you to the designated parking space.
4. Park in one of the designated parking spaces. For certain roles (e.g., VIP), proof may be required by the parking staff.
5. If the travel concept includes Park&Ride and there is a partnership with local public transport, NUNAV will automatically open the relevant schedule information.

Your event is not displayed?
Then the organizer or the responsible institution has not yet booked digital traffic management through NUNAV.
