Currently, NUNAV Navigation does not offer the ability to load and store map data on the device. The navigation processes traffic data in real-time to provide each user of our Collaborative Routing with the fastest route individually.
To ensure you always have the most up-to-date map data, NUNAV Navigation does not use offline maps but instead adapts the map data used to your individual usage behavior. The map data is updated at regular intervals (approximately every 14 days). For this, we process data from OSM for map creation and routing.
Currently, NUNAV Navigation uses so-called "environment caching." This means that only the environmental data of your last destinations is stored. Once the maximum capacity of 200 MB is exceeded, the environmental data of the "least visited destinations" is freed up for the environmental data of new destinations. This way, you only load the map data you really need and can always navigate with the current map.
Due to this "environment caching," data consumption is naturally significantly lower for shorter or recurring routes (such as your commute) than if you drive from Hamburg to Munich today and from Munich to Berlin tomorrow. On these routes, NUNAV will naturally load more real-time data as more map data is needed.
However, complete offline use will not be possible as this would contradict our approach to connected driving. More on the topic of "Collaborative Routing" and AI-based swarm intelligence can be found here.
